Hometown: Toronto, Canada

About Dr. Patel:

Dr. Jason Patel was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He attended the University of Toronto to study molecular biology and physiology, and built a humanitarian aid organization to serve people locally and abroad. With the encouragement of a mentor and the experience of caring for his mother, he decided after undergrad to attend medical school at Saba University School of Medicine to focus on community care. There, he became particularly interested as to how stress affects the body. So, he spent a year in research studying the relationship between the gut and the brain at Johns Hopkins Hospital. This kicked off a path in psychiatry to better understand how our life circumstances and biology influence one's brain. My residency was completed in Cleveland Ohio at Case Western Reserve University, and fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at University of Hawai'i.

"Thank you for the opportunity of entrusting your family in my care."- Dr. Jason Patel
