About Amy:

Amy Bailin, M.S. Ed., is a national expert on learning differences for children and adults with 45+ years of experience in this field. She is a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. Although her primary residence is in Brooklyn, NY, Hawaii is her second home where she spends a few months every year.

Amy is retired from the NYC public school system.  She founded and directed Bailin-Mann Associates, a learning center in Brooklyn for children and adults which operated for over 20 years.

Among the schools for which she consults is the world’s first orthodox Jewish Yeshiva for dyslexic girls, where Orton-Gillingham is taught in both English and Hebrew.  She is the Director of their Professional Development Academy.  In Hawaii, she provided training & consultation for Assets School and OG educational therapists.  Currently she provides consultation and training to the clinical team at Kahala Clinic for Children & Family and consults to families served at our clinic.

Of all her many accomplishments, she is the most proud of developing the First National Teen Conference on Dyslexia, which was duplicated by many branches of the International Dyslexia Association, the Michigan Dyslexia Institute, the British Dyslexia Association, and the European Dyslexia Association.
