Language & Learning Delays

It is estimated that 1 in 5 students in the US has a learning disability.

By definition, these youngsters have average to above-average intelligence. Since the mid 1980s the National Institutes of Health have researched the causes and symptoms of these learning challenges.  Despite the heroic efforts of many researchers and educators, it takes fifteen years for research to reach mainstream classrooms.  The Kahala Clinic brings cutting edge research to the families they work with.

Amy Bailin, M.S. Ed., is a national expert on learning differences for children and adults with 45+ years of experience in the field. She is a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators, which was established in 1995. Although her primary residence is in Brooklyn, NY, Hawaii is her second home where she spends a few months every year.  She is a consultant and trainer with our clinic.
