Katie A. Steinhelfer

APRN-Rx, PMHNP, CPNP, FNP-c

About Me:

Katie earned her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from The Ohio State University, her Bachelors in the Science of Nursing and Masters in the Science of Nursing for her Pediatrics Specialty from The University of Hawai’i at Manoa and her post-master’s certificates in Family medicine and Psychiatric Mental Health medicine from Hawai’i Pacific University. She has had over 10 years working with children, adolescent, and young adults.

She conducted research with Mindfulness with at-risk youth, graduate teaching assistant, and worked as an RN with medically fragile children in their homes, while finishing up her Master's degree. Katie has been practicing as  Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, working as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for Federally-Qualified Health Centers on Oahu since 2016. While in primary care, Katie witnessed first-hand the importance of the family unit and the importance of mental health on one's overall well-being and gained a yearning to go back to complete her post-Master's certificate in psychiatric mental health in order to better serve her patients and community. She is thrilled to be part of the team of dedicated providers at The Kahala Clinic.

What motivates you to do this work?

The intrinsic reward of helping others to heal and reach their full potential.

My love for working with children began at the age of 10 when I began babysitting, and then working as a secretary for a local family medicine/psychiatrist practice at the age of 13 and I instantly knew I wanted to work in the medical field with the pediatric population and their families.
